John Amos (Mayor Ethan Baker)

- Veteran film, stage and television
actor John Amos began his career as a television writer for the
Emmy Award-winning "Loman and Barkley Show" and "The
Leslie Uggams Show."
- Since then, he has appeared in numerous
television series and specials, feature films and stage productions,
and is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the adult Kunta
Kinte in "Roots," the precedent setting mini-series
which garnered Amos an Emmy nomination.

- Amos made his theatrical debut in the
Los Angeles production of "Norman, Is That You?" and
was promptly nominated by the Los Angeles Drama Critics for Best
Actor. Additional stage appearances include the Broadway productions
of "Tough to Get Help" and "Split Second,"
which won him the NAACP Award as Best Actor, and the Berkshire
Theater festival production of "The Boys Next Door."
Mr. Amos conceived and wrote "Halley's Comet," his
critically acclaimed one-man show in 1990, which opened to exceptional
reviews and sold out houses.

- Amos' motion picture credits include
"Lock Up" with Sylvester Stallone and Donald Sutherland;
the box office smash "Coming to America" with Eddie
Murphy; and the blockbuster "Die Hard II" with Bruce
Willis. His television credits include his role as Gordy the
Weatherman on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "Touched
by an Angel," "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," "Martin,"
"In the House" and, of course, his role as James Evans
in the sitcom classic "Good Times."
- Most recently, Amos portrayed Admiral
Percy Fitzwallace, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on NBC's
hit drama "The West Wing," and wrapped two new movies:
"Something to Sing About," and "All Over Again"
with Craig T. Nelson. Amos also recently finished filming "Disappearing
Act" with Wesley Snipes for HBO.
